Mrs. Margaret Dumas
I am a longtime resident of Fairhope - 48 years and counting. My husband and I have one child - a daughter, Sara, a graduate of Spring Hill College. I on the other hand graduated from South Alabama with a B.S in Early Childhood Education. After teaching for several years, I returned to South for my Master's. I hold my National Board certification in Middle Childhood Generalist and I am certified through the Praxis for Gifted Ed K - 12. After teaching half a year in Mobile county, I started the 1988 school year at Fairhope Elementary under Mrs. Bigby's leadership - what a blessing to live and work in the same community! I have taught 35 years in Baldwin County - Kindergarten, Multi-age and a looped class at the Fairhope K- 1 Center, then in 2000 I started teaching Gifted Ed. The first year I completed a total of 11 school wide enrichments at the K-1 Center, FES, FIS and J. Larry Newton, all while providing services to identified students at the K-1. I was been based at FIS, and taught fourth and sixth grade identified students, as well as provide weekly enrichment classes to fourth grade students. When the Fairhope schools were reconfigured in 2020, I transferred to Fairhope West where I facilitate learning for fifth and sixth grade gifted students.
